2009 NBA All-Star Game in Phoenix

LeBron James led the Eastern Conference All-Stars with 20 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Western Conference won 146-119 in the 58th All-Star Game. LBJ, who has the highest Career All-Star scoring average - 23.4 (117 points in five games) - amazed fans around the globe with several jaw-dropping plays. That included a preview of his 2010 Dunk Contest declaration - a head-above-the-rim alley-oop backboard slam. LeBron was wearing the All-Star Game Nike Zoom LeBron VI, of course, but I’m sure people paid more attention to the Akron VI, which he sported the day before.
In general, the All-Star Weekend, as fan is it was, had a little soap opera feeling this year. The Dunk Contest seemed directed a bit, with the Superman vs KryptoNate battle in the final round.
The judges made too many arguable decisions for my taste. This made Rudy Fernandez lose in the first round as he received very low scores. His dunks were better than some of the 50s by Nate and Howard not to mention JR who still got best of him. The All-Star Game was different than usual. Teams played defense from the very beginning, but West clearly did not allow any easy buckets, which spoiled the fun. However, all things ended well as we got the “unexpected” Kobe and Shaq are back together happy ending. No comments there. Massive number of photos from last night is available after jump.
